The Brony Culture Study: Understanding the Needs and Views of Adult Fans of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic  (2016)

The Brony Culture Study provides an extensive look at the Brony community through 46 interviews with fans of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The qualitative study explores a Brony’s enjoyment of the show, his or her participation in the fandom, and how open a fan is in sharing his or her “Bronyhood” with those outside of the fan community.

From Banned Books to Internet Filters: The Constitutional Battle Over Censoring Ideas in American Libraries (April 2014)

This paper examines the constitutionality of the use of Internet filters in public libraries, both public school libraries and libraries for use by the public.

Animated Social Satires: A Comparative Analysis (December 2013)

A multi-authored paper, this study examines the animated satires The Simpsons, South Park, and The Boondocks. Primary contributions included coding episodes, writing the “Cultural References” and “Animation Style and Universal Emotions” sections, and creating the videos found within the project that illustrate study findings.

The Boondocks: A Content Analysis (November 2013)

A multi-authored paper, this study examines the adult animation series The Boondocks. Primary contributions included writing the “Context and Cultural Representations” section as well as the “Music Cues” section with the help of information provided by fellow authors. In addition, I created the videos found within the project that illustrate our findings.

Witch: An Analysis of a Cultural Artifact (October 2013)

This paper examines the way the image of the witch is presented in American media culture and the reasons for its continued use.
